Welcome to my new blog. I've had other blogs in the past but have to admit that I must be the world's worst blogger. However, this year I am determined to update this blog frequently..... well at least more than 'once in a blue moon' like before.
Where to start? Hmmmm!!! I suppose I should talk a little bit about myself. I am a working mum of 2 beautiful although at times very trying children. I share my life with a wonderful man named Mark and we live in Brisbane, Australia. We both work fulltime at a local hospital, me as a Registered Nurse, him as an orderly. Working together has it's ups and downs but we've done it now for seven years and will do so for a few more at least.
My two main hobbies are of course scrapbooking and patchwork/stitchery. I have always been crafty (ever since I was a small child), and have pursued just about every sort of craft imaginable. However, scrapbooking and patchwork have completely taken over my life.
PATCHWORK/STITCHERY:- I combine the two as I do both. I enjoy making lots of quilts, cushions, wall hangings and framed stitcheries. I used to do these mainly as gifts for people, but two years ago decided to take my love of stitchery and start a stitchery/patchwork design business. I named it BRACKLEBERRY GULLY as I wanted something unique but with an Australian flavour to it (Hence the gully component). It is an online business as well as selling wholesale to quilt shops. It's been a lot harder and more time consuming than I had imagined. However, this year I am focusing on raising the profile and getting the name known out in the quilting community. The response and feedback about my designs has been very positive so far.
SCRAPBOOKING:- Initially I didn't want to get involved with this craft as I just didn't think I had enough time. However, after doing a bit with a friend I became hooked and I really enjoy it. Where else do you get to revert to childhood and play with stickers, glue, markers, bits of paper, ribbons and buttons? I just love all the wonderful products available and the scope of this craft is wonderful. I also enjoy the social aspect of scrapbooking and have met and made friends with some lovely people through this craft. And I was amazed to be given an Honourable Mention for a double page layout I did for the 2007 Scrapbooing Memories Masters. I had never submitted any work before so was stunned. I plan to try and get some more work published this year.
Finally, the purpose of this blog will be to record my stitchery and scrapbboking activities and achievements this year and to share a bit about my life and what I'm up to.
Until next time,
T
